Yesterday, we visited ZeroFriends Gallery and wanted to share this great place with incrdedible deals, on even more incredible art. Located in Oakland, ZeroFriends is a new-ish gallery which has been producing some of the best shows we’ve seen down in Oaktown for a number of years. If you’ve been disappointed with the pickings at Art Murmur, you need to check out Zero and the other galleries nearby on 25th Street. There are a handful of very rewarding exhibitions – a few of which we will cover soon.

Currently inside Zero – you will find a sweet and solid solo show by Robert Bowen; many works by Alex Pardee; other miscellaneous pieces of original art; and some creepy-cool artist tees. Robert’s Unnatural Selection takes up one wall and is hung in a very arresting way – all the major pieces fit together much like a puzzle. We loved the Zebra Keeper, (the very top image here) – she was riding that bullet just like the babes with the bowling pins in The Big Lebowski. Alex Pardee has a zillion little framed prints up for sale at incredible bargain prices. In subject matter, they range from Edward Scissorhands (above) to crazy Pardee-style graphic monsters. And these are quality prints - printed with archival Inks on cotton rag. If you are Xmas shopping – we recommend taking advantage of the deals offered here. The folks at Zero were kind enough to let me meander around the back of the gallery, used for studio and workspace. Hanging there were beautiful works from previous shows and larger pieces that wouldn’t fit elsewhere. Pieces which really need to be seen in person. Wonderful works by Jon Wayshak, Dave Correla, Kopsky and more …
